The gold from Sharon's mother's and grandmother's
engagement rings, Lars' dad's gold crowns, and gold flakes and nuggets
collected in Ester throughout Lars' childhood were melted down into a
gold bar. Lars made out of wax the wedding rings that we
wanted. The wax rings are then entombed into an investment, at
which time the wax melts away leaving the void to fill in with
gold. Below, you see the process of melting the gold and pouring
it into the investment.

Lars, the metalsmither!
The investment that the gold was poured into.
Busting the rings out of the investment.
Getting there...the diamond is shining through.
Walaa! Next, Lars will cut the spurs off, remove the oxidation and polish them up!
I do!
Current projects include:
09/12/07 The house is getting back to normal after the wedding. We are using rainwater as our main source of water. It is collected from the roof, passed through several filters, bombarded with UV light, and then chlorinized in our holding tank. Next, we need to figure out how to get an invertor for our 6 solar panels!
02/29/07 Amidst a frozen septic system, slate tiling on both of the stairwells has been completed as well as an outdoor staircase leading up to the "woodshed". Little did young Gary know that he would be spending his spring break grinding metal!!
01/07/07 Gary, Matt and Lars are making great strides on finishing the upstairs bathroom! They also installed the new woodstove after expanding the platform for it due to its larger size.
08/01/06 Installeed a fully intergrated gutter system to effectively collect rainwater. We have hopes to make this rainwater potable. Lars has been working endlessly to put up siding. Its really coming along. Future projects: Re-route chimney pipe after moving woodstove. DONE! Put tile into entryways. Railings in stairways. Arctic entryways are DONE!
